Working with The Way Youth Zone

April 1st, 2021 by Dave Lote

Throughout “Lockdown 3.0” we supported The Way Youth Zone in Wolverhampton with their COVID-19 Response delivery. This included delivering hot lunches, food parcels, internet data packs and resource packs to families in and around Wolverhampton.

We were thrilled to assist The Way with this project as a way to give back to the community and support those who need it most amidst a global pandemic. The Way did a fantastic job at organising this and getting help to those who needed it, including coming up with some really creative ways to keep their members engaged, including a weekly Cook-Along on Instagram where members could request food packs to be delivered on that day containing all the ingredients they needed to make the dish!

When the team were out delivering on the minibus all steps were taken to keep the team safe a team of 3 would go out in a 16-seater minibus so that social distancing could be adhered too and all staff wore appropriate PPE and had access to sanitiser and cleaning products for when they were needed. During the time that we supported with this project we spent a lot of time with some of the youth workers at The Way and really enjoyed talking to them about what they do and how they support their members and it was clear to see the passion that they all had for making a difference within their community.

We really enjoyed seeing the faces of those who we were delivering these parcels too as we could see that they really appreciated the help and being greaten at the doors by children with big smiles was a great feeling. Seeing the impact that the resource packs and food had to some of the children was an incredibly powerful experience and made us realise how lucky we are to be in a position to support this programme.

If you live in Wolverhampton and are aged 8-19 (up to 25 with a disability) or know someone who is and would like to find out more about The Way Youth Zone and the work they do then check out their website:
